*** lil magpie loves ballgowns***yesterday, lady finch and i went thrifting(gasp) and came upon a horrific site. in the parking lot, locked in a car with the windows rolled all the way up, sat a dog. well, it is summer and the temp in our town has been hovering around the one hundred teens! this poor dog was being slowly murdered. it does not take very long for severe brain damage or even death to occur in this type of situation. this is where i would link to some hard hitting scientific facts if i knew how. anyway this is just common sense and if not it is on the news everyday!!! they actually put out "severe heat warnings" almost daily. so,(duhn duhn duhn) we called in the cops. as unsure as we were the cops informed us that this indeed was the correct protocol in this situation. right on! well, some lady with two small children came out and drove away before the fuzz could arrive. we waffled on whether to confront her, decided against it, and hoped that 'the man' would use the license plate number to follow up. later, when i talk to the finchster i will update with the business names and telephone numbers that were being advertised on the vehicle.
good deed done for the day, the thrifting universe gifted us with a bounty of treasures. my favorite is the vintage suitcase (score) i store all my yarn, fabric and paper in vintage suitcases. temporarily, until i have a room of my own. we wandered into a thrift store we had never been to and i was in second hand heaven...this store actually had all their housewares separated by color. fantastic!!!
inspired by yesterdays tragic dog experience i have decided that today is DOG BLOG DAY!we have three wonderful dogs. they are strange, hilarious and loving. and currently involved in some icky dog porn. eeewww! dog blog day is a huge step for me as i was never a dog person. just not interested. yuch. until... the nightingale... she is a dr. doolittle. loves every kind of creature.(current total-3dogs,1cat,1snake,2fish and constantly asking for just one more of anything) for the winter holiday, two years ago, with lots of encouragement from a dog loving friend, i bought the nightingale a boston terrier. instant love. captain gomez g. huckleberry joined the family with lots of love and cuddles. however, i stayed aloof, ask my friends, i am the one who says "eeewww, please do not let your yuchy dog touch me". this changed the night our little fella (fully grown 8lbs) asphyxiated on some new kibble. there i was in the e.r. sobbing.
i like dogs now. mine, i am still working on liking yours. so we added to the gang and brought zeke magurk, the english bulldog, in to our lives. (this is truly the raddest dog ever) and just recently (because three is the magic number) we added princess ibuki, the french bulldog. i go back and forth between thinking we have completely lost our minds to i cannot imagine our lives without them(except when we want to road trip, then i do a lot of imagining because we have to stay home!).
the many faces of gomez... brand new-bat dog-sleeping just yesterday. gomez is a quirky little fellow. he did not bark until he was a year and a half. i think it startled him as much as us. most of the time he makes these gremliny crackley gurggley chirppy noises. we call him the cricket pig. surprisingly he maintains his place as alpha dog weighing a whopping 8lbs. ibuki=24lbs zeke=60lbs. very funny when he puts the big dogs in their place.
zeke cracks us up constantly. before the princess joined us, zeke and gomez would cavort around the house with ridiculous dialogue provided by the holy crow and i as we watched. they remind us of abbott and costello mixed with the three stooges. what did we do before??? make out :) zeke is very difficult to get a good picture of. every time he hears the camera turn on he comes running. "i wanna be on you"
here is the princess ibuki. she loves to smell your breath, sneak into the kitchen(her last people fed her people food) cuddle and chase shadows and reflections. the boys are teaching her to play. this is very cute as she hops like a bunny when excited. she is a constant companion, following wherever i may wander through the house (even the bathroom if i do not shut the door quickly or firmly).
last but not least i have sewn up one bag.yippee! also working on a couple of wristcuffs as i cannot (yet) sew and watch a movie. they are quick, cute, fun and i really wanted to rewatch 'anchorman' with the holy crow last night. i know it is funny but i forget how every second is so mantastically hilarious!i plan on running to a large corporate retail chain today to get some tennis balls for felting(not the 'w' place, i refuse to set foot in the 'w' place!). i heard they really help the process. i also heard that if you throw them in the dryer you can avoid using the toxic dryer sheets i cannot live without. hmmm.
