knock, knock...who's there?

sunday week in review...

i cannot believe it is already sunday... this moving across the country has the entire house in a tailspin...do we really have this much stuff???

knock knock...
who's there?
gunga.
gunga who?
open de door i gunga din!!!

we sold the car!!! so i had to ride the bus... i was incredibly nervous...
this is the rad sky on bus day. so lovely.

this is what i imagaine the neighborhood to look like where the apocalypse will begin. very bleak, red dawn, day of the dead...this cities yuchy urban sprawl!!!
this is the zombie church of the apocalypse... you cannot really see it, but i swear that says 'testicles de jehovah'...hee hee

and thus we begin the review...

riding the bus was scary, fun, crazy...i actually sat next to a man, older than dirt, who mumbled complaints about everyone who got on. funny for five minutes, thank goodness for my stop.

*metro city buses...are old and dirty and smell bad. it seems to me that it did not start that way nor does it have to be that way. citizens who use public transit deserve more respect.
i am so thankful for me own personal buggy.
***bus soundtrack***
the clash*silversun pickups*sparklehorse*jane's addiction*lauryn hill*suicidal tendencies*pie tasters*califone*modest mouse*deftones*d.j.muggz and gza*souixsie and the banshees*bjork*crispin glover*tom waits* (i love to shuffle, every song seemed perfect)
oh, and i was thinking 'the pinkertons' would be a rad name for a punk band...
*eastside records...a landmark of tempe being squeezed out of exsistence by the corporate money fuckers(oops, sorry i swore, remember the impact thing)

gotta get me some of that...which phonograph to choose???every girls must have for the holiday season...do not forget the classics...

summa dis
summa dat
some super finds...
heck yeah!!! we did not know what these were but they seem worth having 'las vegas grind'...we will have to go back before the big up ending...(i would like some big band...any suggestions?)

*food*

*el pollo supremo...super rude service but there is something in those spices that beckon my tummy regularly.
*casa reynosa...gollo burro=super yummy (especially enchilada style) nice family owned resteraunt ( no matter how i type that word it looks wrong, know what i mean?)
*essensce bakery...super yummy breakfast food. slight up scale fresh french essensce (hee hee)
best jam and toast i have ever had. yum yum...prices are decent. i wish they were open on sunday...that is the day we like going out for breakfast...
*movie*
*weatherman...there are a couple of really funny, wee your pants, moments...especially the scenes between our protaganist and the boyfriend...oh my gasp gosh ha ha...also the hot apple pie (even made me chuckle while i was writing this)
so i am knitting anhanhand knitting anhanhand knitting...
(you must say this in your best pee wee impression)
and then i am felting anhanhand felting etc... except, these would be rad little clutches do not felt...i know, i tried five times. the ever helpful terry at tempe yarn and fiber could not believe it and she called the company and they did not believe it...well, she is going to try and then send them in to the company...i am so curious as to what the findings will be...
anyway, i mentioned the super cute so yummy you could eat them felting kits...and here they are(brought chutzpah to store today, in form of mother goose! thank you, m.g.!!!)

heck yeah!!!
today only, special dream car...oh my gosh, i so could rock that car!!!
the green hornet is how i roll...
old school update: she's a bad mama jama

see the finch drink

first things first... just finished harry potter and i must say brilliant, smashing, well done!!! my peeps and i spoke nervously about our apprehensions...could she pull this off? uh, yep!!!
heck yeah ms rowling!!! THANK YOU

this here is a poem from the beth's house...it seemed fitting for the occasion.
life is short
and we never have too much time
for gladdening the hearts
of those who are traveling
the dark journey with us.
oh, be swift to love,
make haste to be kind!

*henri amiel*
i do not know who he is, i just thought that was super rad...thanks beth!

one of the elements that ran course through this last harry potter(do not worry, not going to give anything away) was the theme of parental love... in this day and age(who the heck says that?), when that bond is dumbed down and ridiculed by most popular media, it was delightful and refreshing to have this paragon of children's(really young adult) literature give parents the respect and honor that we deserve. when my children read this i hope they have a better understanding of what it means to me to be lucky enough to be their mother. i only discovered this when i had my own children. i would like to say thank you to my mother!!! here is a shot of me and the girls (the raven,my eldest, not pictured) frolicking in rocky point.
oh yeah, mrs. weasley rocks!!!

now what exactly did that title mean???
lady finch is away getting more smartses at waldorf teacher training this summer...
as you can see she needs it but i miss her so the following is my 'lady finch drinks tribute'
this would be set to today's...
old school update:
morris day and the time's 'jungle love'
pretend i just linked you to a super rad video :)
(obviously i still need some learnin...)

the lady finch drinks and hikes

double fisted drinker for halloween
even as a fairy she can knock 'em back

okay, okay, she also drinks water...

i do seem to be having trouble with some new product so i will load pictures when kinks are ironed out.

who the heck knew louis farrakahn played violin

sunday's week in review...

today, being somewhat less financially endowed, i was inspired to whip a little breakfast up...as i am unable to work in the kitchen if it is not super clean(even one dish) i started at the sink to tidy and what a delightful little surprize... this heart sewn by lil magpie and left laying around the house was found by the holy crow as well as this charm and viola! i wondered why he needed a pin last night...this of course inspired the thought of collecting photos of what people look at while they do the dishes...(i could really have some fun with flickr...i should investigate and learn how to use it!)

who does not love 'egg in a basket'??? yum yum simple goodness...this leads to the food portion of this week's review...
*drip...this place has loads of character.you could go just for the decor...simple, clean. the menu is small and reasonably priced...again loving the simple. the portions are only small if you compare them to america's ever growing waistline. the only thing i would change is to pep up the flavors and add more produce. this place does have the fuckin best chocolate chip cookies ever in the whole universe.(sorry about the swear word, i am trying to cut down...which would make the use of this word carry far more impact, which was exactly what i was going for.)
*green...simple yummy vegan food...why are there not more places like this??? food is good, price is okay, atmosphere is good, service is friendly or at least polite.

*taco nazo...this is a weekly staple. they are the providers of my favorite breakfast burrito.this is just your typical dive.atmosphere is nada. service is adequate. one huge factor in our support is the above pictured, god of all quarters!!! homies, santos, jewelry and this week's favorite*virgin mary stickers* i must have spent two dollars to get the coveted blue one...i gave a quarter to lil magpie and she scored it...and will not give it to me or trade!!!aiigh!!!

this picture proves not only that i have been working but that the girl at the yarn shop was right when she assured me that "once you go circular you never go back". i have avoided them for years. you are the first to witness my fall. i looove them! i am saving up to get a set of the interchangeable bamboo. yummy!!! i do have more pics...but i am going to wait till i have them loaded on to my etsy shop...cakehole
oh yeah movie review...
*i must own borat!!! nuthin i can say...
*children of men...i was expecting more. it was okay. michael cain was good. overall i wanted more character development and more story.
*harry potter...i thought it was good but short. nightingale reread the book before hand and realized this was a mistake as she knew all the cuts and changes...we both agreed that we would sit through a much longer movie(5 hours) if we could get more story.
today we brought home the new book...there could be a fight!

*this is my friend beth...
(terrible photo, sorry) she is a fantastic artist who never fails to inspire me. she is full of interesting stories. and intriguing ideas...

this is beth's "somewhat dodgey" bungalow...(artist studio) i covet a space like this

this is beth's lil box o horses...

beth rocks...
i mentioned beth before...she is the lady rocking the mehndelson

this is beth's bathroom message...hee hee hee

three things thump thump thursday

thursday is now the day of three things that make my heart go thump thump
todays subject is the bathroom!!!

this is the bathroom buddha. i am not counting him as he is the buddha! as you can see i am already sort of cheating... this little fella can only be seen after you open the decrepit medicine cupboard. hmmm...what does that other vingette mean??? (that is right, i am a lucky girl)
clinique 'happy' is the first and only perfume i have ever owned...the holy crow gave it to me for my first birthday we celebrated together...it does smell happy!!! you can barely see it, but after weeks of coveting my label maker i finally let lil magpie have a go... i am glad she thinks i rock!(second cheat)

this is a large blue 'atlas strong shoulder' mason jar with metal and glass lid filled with some of nightingale's collection of bouncy balls. (technically not cheating as this is a package deal...are you counting?) we like to close the door and bounce them hard. one at a time keep away is the best game. the eyeball glows in the dark...out go the lights and it is cuhrazy town!

we got this shower curtain(i love sam flores) after our trip to portland. we stayed at the ummm...i cannot remember the name...(edit:the jupiter)but it was rad. it had this curtain and the door to the room was painted with chalkboard paint...chillin like a villian. this was such an awesome vacation. the graffitti up there was awesome. (i do not believe you can use the word awesome too often when describing portland) we ate at a rad little wine bar=noble rot(i cannot believe i remembered that name)yummy butter lettuce salad.

those were the (ahem) three things i love (thump thump) in my bathroom.
(i also love alliteration)

this is part of my super rad yummy lunch. cantelope with chile limon!!!
mango in rocky point is where this addiction started! if you have been there you know!!!

this is my shazam glass. one of my newest favorite treasures. i think perhaps the holy crow thinks it is his...but it is not...well sort of...one of us is always disappointed come beverage time.

these are the cutest cookies in the entire universe and yum yum too! kancho!!!
so lil magpie spies these on my work table(ha ha computer desk)
l.m.-may i have one
h.b.c.-sure
surprized look(uh oh, am i greedy with my cookies? heck yeah!)
l.m.-may i have two
h.b.c.-sure
suprized look intesifies
unsure if it can be pushed farther...
l.m.-may i have a few
h.b.c.-hold on, how many is a few...
we agree to split them evenly ; )

these are the two new bags for etsy later today...(which was much ealier if you happen to check the time of this post! oops!)

and this here is a sneak peek at a little something in the works for mother goose who has been such a gracious host to me and the girls as well as providing her computer guru skills and general delightful company...i will show more later.

okay, i am sneaking one more bathroom thump thump in...(does three make me a super cheater?) this rad little box, the holy crow and i found on one of our outings. it practically walked out of the shop and jumped in our vehicle on its own.

old school update...'pretty young thang' nightingale is fascinated by the metomorphosis of michael jackson...it cannot really be explained...(southpark tried...ha ha)
the children did 'bust a move' with me though!!!

heck yeah *i love words*

heck yeah
i have been so busy...wheee
with the wonderful help of the most awesome mother goose and the cuhrazy oscar from kinkos
i have made my debut on etsy
did i say heck yeah!?
rockin the labels has been sooo fun
even the nightingale crawled out of her hole to make some
ahhh the bonding
i have missed that

every mornin i just grab my bag and go...
neko case comes with..."it looks a lot like engine oil and tastes like being poor and small and posicles in the summer..."
currently, the mother goose is hosting seven of the cutest french bulldog puppies...this is icky thump. he is still available on her website, scrumptiouspups.com. okay, really his name is orlando but because of his white stripe i took the liberty of renaming him.
i really did not have much to say...so i leave you with something that made me think...this is a bit of text from gabriel garcia marquez's novel 'memories of my meloncholy whores'

'i discovered that my obsession for having each thing in the right place, each subject at the right time, each word in the right style, was not the well-deserved reward of an ordered mind but just the opposite: a complete system of pretense invented by me to hide the disorder of my nature. i discovered that i am not disciplined out of virtue but as a reaction to my negligence, that i appear generous in order to conceal my meanness, that i pass myself off as prudent because i am evil-minded, that i am conciliatory in order not to succumb to my repressed rage, that i am punctual only to hide how little i care about other people's time...'

hmmm...nuh uh

okay not so deep, i am borrowing this rad little book from mother goose and i am so excited about all the fun sewing i will be doing...(while i sort of slink around avoiding the monster of moving)

knuckles=good swearing=not so good

tomorrow i will load the rest of my shizzle on etsy. did i say heck yeah!?
you can find me at cakehole!

s.u.p.e.r.s.o.n.i.c. a week in review...

the s is for super and the u is for unique the p is for perfection cause you know that we are freaks the e is for exotic and the r is for rack so tell those nosy people just to stay the hell back supersonic.

yes yes i have been rocking out to the old school station. ouch, they called that an oldie. another gem this week was the tom tom club's genius of love. heck yeah!!! check out the video on you tube. it is so worth it.( eventually i will learn how to link)

this here is the last tribute to lil magpie as she is finally home. heck yeah!!! these pictures are about two years apart. princess messy hair was just an average day playing outside. yes, we climb trees in ballgowns, don't you?

this picture was taken in rocky point. she loved it here and asked several times if we could move. i have never seen her sit so still and so quietly as she did when the ladies were braiding her hair. i mean, she is one of those kids who rarely gets her face painted because there are so many other things to do. she loved the braids(no hair brushing) and kept them in for about a week.
now that she is home, i am getting all my cuddles that i missed. there is just something about a little girl and her little pink pig pushing you over at four in the morning "mommy make room" and crawling in your bed. all is right in my world.

o.k. the title promises some reviews and boy do i have them...

first, my own personal goals, not swearing and not cracking my knuckles... neither one of these are easy to give up. to not swear i would probably have to give up driving. i also notice that i swear more around certain people.hmmm. they have got to go. not cracking my knuckles is definately going better.

conversations... i spoke with an amazing artist friend the other day for a little over four hours. this was definately a record for me. we touched on so many subjects and only stopped because the real world called us back. her latest greatest inspiration is playing a violin piece (mehndelson) for death row inmate jarvis, in san quentin.

*movies*
*1480... i was terribly nervous about seeing this as in my old age i do not care for scary movies. well, this was not a problem. not only was this not scary, but it was super cheesey. in fact, holy crow says he will never see another stephen king movie, as he was so let down. and by the way, what stylist lets john cusack wear the same clothes he had in the eighties. i like john, but come on, pegged pants, eeegads.
*the birds...alfred hitchcock rocks. tippi hedren's character reminded me of paris hilton. however, when she is cruising in her aston martin up to bodega bay it is by far the very bestest driving scene ever!!!
*holy grail...everyone loves it and you just do not know why. every time i watch it i think, eh, this aint so good and within moments i am laughing . whatever.
*more media*
*henry rollins show...black flag with gray hair. right on. tom morello was so articulate. it is nice to have this kind of intellegent representation. he made me want to rush right out and get cuhrazy in the street. we are considering on how to bring positive activism into our lives. i am really excited about the reunion. this is definately good television.
*teenage girls and m.t.v.... the other day a friend of the nightingales was over and they were perusing cable and landed on a show called 'yo momma' (i think) interesting...
"yo momma so nasty the trash take her out!"
*n.p.r.... heather o'neil read her story 'robot baby' yesterday afternoon. it was a good story highlighted by the author's own voice. i was disappointed when it was over. hers was a voice that you could listen to. i often think that about n.p.r. i love the splendid table... i will most likely never eat or even encounter most of the things she talks about, i just like to listen to her talk. while the holy crow would rather jump out of the moving car.
gabriel garcia marquez is my favorite author. i just finished ' memories of my melancholy whores'. i am working on an explanation soundbite as to why i love his work. this is one of my favorite passages.
"his reveries left nests of dark swallows on the balconies and the sound of kisses and the beating of wings in the stillness of siesta"
this is from 'love in the time of cholera'.

peppered in have been pictures to prove that i am actually working. mother goose is helping me to get my _ _ _ _ together and open an etsy shop. i am a little nervous but what the heck!
